Write a ficlet that begins with the sentence: "I swear I didn't put those..."

“I swear I didn’t put those there.” his son said as he stared inquiringly at the miniature wall of coloured, square wooden building blocks arranged precisely at the bottom of the stares. A miniature barrier to him as he walked downstairs from his bedroom, he smiled at it and feigned difficulty in lifting his leg to get over it. Eventually managing to overcome the imaginary gigantic obstacle, Sid trotted to the kitchen and made eggs on toast while Christopher, placed on top of a stool, chattered to him excitedly, swinging his legs, staring intently.

It was upon this moment, fixed with a smile and a mock accusing glare, that the four year old reiterated the previously uttered sentence given during the incursion at the bottom of the stairs. However, his nearing but not entirely achieved mastery of pronunciation and his natural accent made “swear”, more into “sweeahr”, yet Sid encouraged this banter anyway. Surely it wouldn’t be long before he grew into a teenager and wouldn’t talk to him as much, so much. Surely the years would fly by and he would wonder, how had things changed so much?

That day, in one way, he was actually, really, quite right.
